Alberto Moravia (1907-1990) is considered one of the finest short story writers of Italian Literature. Thanks to his narrative skill and psychological insight, whilst presenting his post-war Roman characters his words create a bridge that unites many aspects of the human condition. Comedy often accompanied with tragedy, disillusionment with delusion, social position with alienation, and of course, love with conflict. This course will have students read his stories and then discuss their content (literary and lexical) each week. A great course for those who wish to start reading modern Italian literature.
