The Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Toronto provides access to bursaries offered by private schools to study Italian in Italy.  The bursaries, which are offered voluntarily by the individual schools, are available to students enrolled in Italian courses in Ontario, Central and Western Canada, as well as students enrolled in courses at the Istituto.

Bursary offered cover part or all of the cost of a course, as determined by the school.

In order to qualify, applicants must be enrolled in and attending regularly an Italian language course at a Canadian University, College or be a student enrolled in Italian courses at Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Toronto.

Students must fill out an application form providing as much information as possible, the more supporting information is submitted the stronger the application.  Please note: applicants must provide a brief reference note from their Italian teacher indicating the level of proficiency they achieved, how long they have been studying Italian, the frequency of their attendance, the student’s degree of motivation and any other remarks they feel would apply.

Travel and accommodation costs as well as any additional expenses, are the responsibility of the student unless otherwise stated by the school.  To facilitate attendance, schools may offer assistance in the search of accommodation for the duration of the course.

The awarding of bursaries is made at the sole discretion of the Istituto.  Among the factors taken into consideration are whether the student has already been awarded a scholarship in the past, how assiduously they follow their courses, as well as any financial needs.  Priority will be given to students enrolled in Italian or Language Studies Programs in local Universities or Colleges.

Istituto Italiano di Cultura is not responsible for the quality of the courses offered by the schools, nor does it endorse any individual school.

In the case of applications for minor students, it is the applicants’ responsibility to verify that the desired school accepts students of the applicant’s age and offers appropriate programs and accommodations.
