COURSE DESCRIPTION

Advanced 1 | C1.1

This course is for learners who already have a strong command of Italian at an advanced level of proficiency. Students at the C1 level are able to understand a wide range of longer texts and recognize implicit meanings. They can express their ideas fluently and spontaneously. Learners in this course will continue to build on these strengths, and will develop the ability to use language flexibly and effectively in different settings such as social, academic, and professional.

This course will continue to offer opportunities for listening and speaking practice with authentic materials (media, literature, debates), with nuanced vocabulary expansion, including idiomatic and figurative language. Advanced grammar and syntax refinement will be addressed as needed.

CONTENT:

C1.1 (Nuovo Espresso 5 – Unit 1, 2, 3)

• To describe and narrate with precision an event or series of events
• To express oneself with context-appropriate emphasis
• To comprehend passages of contemporary fiction
• To relate events that happened in the past
• To express opinions, doubts, suggestions and desired
• To recognize some Regional language variances

Course duration:        2.5-hour lessons once a week for 10 weeks

New students must take a placement test to register for this course.
