The aim of this course is getting to know the CILS B1 Cittadinanza Exam and preparing to take it. The Exam is divided into 4 sections and the Course will go over the sections of the exam and practice each one.  The Course will provide suggestions and strategies on how best to approach the Exam. A particular focus will be placed occasionally on grammar points that will appear on the Exam as the need arises.

Please note: completing the course does not guarantee successful completion of the B1 Citizenship exam

IMPORTANT:  this is not an Italian language course.  Students must already be able to write, read and speak Italian at an Upper Elementary level of A2.2 (click here to read the description)

Materials for this course are provided by the teacher.

Pre-requisite: Having completed at least level A2.2 - Elementary 2 or equivalent level of proficiency..

Course features:
  • 2.5 hour classes each week for 10 weeks, total
  • Small class sizes of maximum 9 students
  • Our courses follow the Common European Framework set by the European Council
  • Highly qualified professional teachers with significant experience in teaching Italian as a second language. 
IMPORTANT - New students at the Istituto must complete the placement test before registering for this class.  The purpose of this test is to ensure students are taking the correct course based on their assessed level.  Returning students are not required to take  this test.

Students at this level are considered independent users who can continue to strengthen A1/A2 level competencies while diversifying the contents and ways of their interactions.

Students can understand the main points in communications related to familiar matters such as work, school, and free time. They can deal with common situations arising while travelling to regions where Italian is spoken. They can describe events, dreams, and speak about their own plans and desires, and provide opinions and explanations.
