This elementary level course will mostly focus on conversation for students who have familiarity with the present and past tenses (imperfect and past perfect) of Italian verbs. In class, students will be encouraged to retell episodes and experiences that took place in the past, using the past perfect and imperfect tenses. Teachers will introduce some extra material to expand the vocabulary and to stimulate conversation in class. The course ends with the introduction of the present conditional (e.g. vorrei, andrei)

Pre-requisite: Students who have completed course A2.1

  • Small class sizes of maximum 11 students
  • Our courses follow the Common European Framework set by the European Council
  • Highly qualified professional teachers with significant experience in teaching Italian as a second language. 
IMPORTANT - New students at the Istituto must complete the placement test before registering for this class.  The purpose of this test is to ensure students are taking the correct course based on their assessed level.  Returning students are not required to take  this test.

Simple future tense
Verbs with prepositions
Hypothetical period of reality
"Stare per" + infinitive
Formal imperative, and review of informal imperative
Comparatives, superlatives and "si" impersonale
Relative pronouns (che, cui)
